Computer Operations Support Specialist (2nd Shift)

|Description:||This person will work second shift (M-F, 3pm-11pm) and will be responsible for the coordination and execution of the firms nightly production batch cycle. Additional technical support activities will be assigned and completed during non-crucial monitoring hours. These responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, assisting with system implementations, enhancing the nightly batch cycle, coordinating and managing test region refreshes and assisting with the management of production support issues. |
|Duties:||•Perform the responsibilities of this position by working on the evening shift, Monday through Friday from 3pm – 11pm. |
•Serve as the lead person responsible for running and monitoring the nightly production batch cycle and executing various overnight technical support activities and processes.
•When issues are identified, work with the appropriate parties to resolve and correct problems in a timely manner.
•Additional responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
oManage the day-to-day coordination and synchronization of the firm’s testing and development environments. This includes environment scheduling, documenting and managing code/data, as well as the configuration refresh processes.
oCoordinate technical changes related to systems implementations and administer the related schedules
oPerform production release management tasks via coordination with various development teams and Senior MIS management.
oAssist in establishing team standards and defining/enhancing procedures, by performing job stream structure reviews/approvals for conformity.
oAssist in meeting the firms helpdesk support needs, including maintaining a prioritized list of outstanding support calls and related project work.
•Other duties and projects as assigned.
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical training.
•Minimum of 5 years of computer operations or systems support experience in a financial services industry, preferably with an asset management firm or investment bank.
•Ability to work 2nd shift (Monday through Friday from 3pm – 11pm)
•Previous experience with job scheduling utilities and technical change control management.
•A self-starter who can work and make decisions with minimal supervision
•Proven ability to communicate effectively and manage time and work tasks efficiently.
•Works effectively under pressure with periodic interruptions and has the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with strong attention to quality and detail.
•Experience with enterprise-level job scheduler utilities (Active Batch, Tivoli, Tidal, AutoSys, crontab).
•Familiarity with the following systems/vendors related to the asset management business as well as related data flows:
oFinancial data vendors
This position requires a self-directed professional who is eager to assume responsibility and a leadership role in the MIS group. Occasional weekend/holiday work, in addition to working the second shift, may be required for systems implementations and upgrades, as Harris Associates L.P. is a leading global investment management firm with 24 hours x 6 day operations.
